Novita Therapeutics Announces Creation of New Subsidiary, Metactive Medical LLC and Hiring of Xandra Sifuentes as President

Olathe, Kan., November 29, 2011 – Novita Therapeutics, LLC (Novita) announced today the formation of Metactive Medical, LLC ("Metactive"), a privately held, wholly owned subsidiary with headquarters at the Kansas Bioscience Authority Venture Accelerator. Going forward, Metactive will be responsible for the development of a group of endovascular products in Novita's pipeline.

Novita also announced the hiring of Xandra Sifuentes, M.B.A. as President of Metactive. "Xandra's engineering background and experience in leading medical device start-ups are ideal to lead the spinout of Metactive," said Novita's Nicholas Franano, M.D., President and CEO of Novita. "We are pleased to have someone of Xandra's talent and drive on our team to lead Metactive's product development efforts."

In related news, Metactive announced the execution of an agreement with CIRTEC Medical Systems, a leader in the outsourced development of minimally invasive cardiovascular products, to partner in the development of Metactive's first product, a device for the endovascular treatment of cerebral aneurysms.
